Din guide til Niagara-fallene
Few natural spectacles on earth carry the same immediate, physical force as Niagara Falls. Standing at the railing above the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side, the sheer volume of water thundering over the curved limestone edge produces a mist that rises high enough to be seen from kilometres away, and a low, continuous roar that seems to come from the ground itself rather than the air. The falls sit on the border between Ontario and the state of New York, but the Canadian vantage point has long been considered the superior one, offering a panoramic view across the full arc of the Horseshoe and a clear sightline to the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls beyond.
Niagara Falls the city grew up almost entirely in service of the spectacle beside it, and that relationship shapes everything about the place. Clifton Hill, the main tourist corridor, runs a short walk from the gorge and mixes attractions, restaurants, and observation towers in a way that can feel relentless, but the waterfront promenade along Niagara Parkway offers a quieter counterpoint. The parkway itself follows the river for several kilometres and is managed by the Niagara Parks Commission, whose mandate has kept the immediate riverbank largely free of commercial development. Queen Victoria Park, which frames the falls on the Canadian side, fills with visitors through the warmer months and transforms in winter when the falls and surrounding trees are illuminated as part of the long-running Festival of Lights.
